San Antonio Tummy Tuck

Pregnancy, weight gain and weight loss take a huge toll on a woman's body, especially in the stomach area. Tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, creates a sleek, flatter stomach by eliminating loose skin and tightening the muscles of the abdominal wall. A tummy tuck can improve areas where exercise and diet tend to fail. Many people do crunches and abdominal exercises every day, but still can't achieve the attractive stomach they really want.

About Tummy Tucks

A tummy tuck could be the answer to any problems you may have with your abdominal area, whether it be excess akin after pregnancy and weight loss, or just extra fat that will not go away. This modern medical procedure can remove excess skin and tighten up the underlying muscles to give you a tighter stomach and thinner waist as well.

How Tummy Tucks Work

Step 1-The most common tummy tuck surgery involves an incision across the lower abdomen, just above the pubic area, and beneath the bikini line. Another incision is made around the belly button so that it is free from the skin surrounding it

Step 2-The skin is separated from the abdominal wall and lifted up above the rib cage.

Step 3- The surgeon pulls loose tissue from the left and right of the abdomen together and sutures it together. This creates a tightening of the muscles and provides a stronger abdominal wall as the waist begins to shrink.

Step 4-The skin is then lowered and the excess skin is removed. A new opening is made for the belly button at the proper position (the old position is now too low) and the incisions are closed with sutures. An elastic dressing is placed over the area. After the first few days, the elastic dressing will need to be replaced with an abdominal supporter. You may have to wear a light support garment for several months following the procedure, as well.

After Your Tummy Tuck

After tummy tuck surgery, you will have some soreness and discomfort, which can be controlled with medication. Bed rest will be required for two or three days with your hips bent to reduce the strain on your abdominal area. You will be up and about after that, but you should avoid being too active for four to six weeks. In two to four weeks, it should be safe to return to work.

By removing the sagging, excess skin and accumulated fatty tissue, you will immediately enjoy a flatter, firmer abdomen and thinner waist. Although every effort is made to minimize scarring, the inevitable scars will be permanent. They will fade over time, however. Within three to six months your scars will get flatter, become lighter, and improve significantly.
